How Running a Business is Like an Exercise Routine and Tips for Each Stage
Running a business is very much like an exercise routine.
When you first get started (either at the beginning or you've fallen off track and are getting back into it), you may feel the following:
- You don't know what to do or how to start
- You feel overwhelmed with all the information that's out there
- You go gung ho on it because you knew you *used* to be able to do so much, so why aren't you there now?
- It can be difficult to start
Once you've started and you've done that first workout, you want to start making it a habit or you want to see the results right away so you:
- Plan something every day during your free time
- Don't have a balance between all of your priorities
- Can't take a day off because it's not in your "plan"
- It's all you think about and you can't be in the present with friends and family
When you're in this stage, you're likely to burn out, give up, or really struggle to stay motivated. Your content is lacking, you aren't able to show up with that passion you once had, and you don't understand why you're not making the sales you "need".
The stage where we all want to be in is this final stage where you have a set routine, you know what you need to do and you do it, you have a balance, you're making sales, and you don't have to constantly think about work.
Your business works with you not against you. When you're in this place, you are excelling, you are reaching more opportunities than you thought there would be, and you realize your goals are being reality.
In order to get to this place, most often we need a mentor to support ourselves through it as it can take a lot to change our mental states about our business. Here are some tips you can take action on today to help you get to that final stage:
- Set days off of your business to focus on family and friends
- For the days you do work your business, have a goal and plan in mind
- Learn the steps you need to take each and every day to show up in your business in a meaningful way
